[Hot News] Great wall of customers greets iPhone 4 in China
Great wall of customers greets iPhone 4 in China

Despite a somewhat tepid reception last year for an earlier version of the iPhone, customers in China turned out in

force Saturday to try to get their hands on the latest incarnation, the iPhone 4, as it made its debut in the country.

According to various reports, more than 1,000 people mobbed the new Apple Store in Beijing's Joy City shopping mall

Saturday, and carrier China Unicom said it had taken almost 50,000 preorders for the device in one day. That compares

with a mere 5,000 iPhones sold last year during the first weekend that the earlier version of the gadget was available

in China.

That version was 3G only, with Wi-Fi disabled because of Chinese regulations prohibiting gadgets that don't use the

country's WAPI (Wired Authentication and Privacy Infrastructure) wireless standard. The

iPhone 4, however, has been made

Wi-Fi-ready for the Chinese market--Apple having acquired a network access license in the country in July.

The price, too, has come down. A 16GB iPhone 4 is selling for about $743 and the 32GB version for about $892 without a

contract at Apple Stores in China, the company said on Monday. (The phone will also be available through China Unicom

with a two-year contract at prices Apple did not detail.) Last year's iPhone 3--Wi-Fi-less in China--went on sale in the

country at about $732 for an 8GB model and about $1,025 for a 32GB version.

Apple is no doubt pleased by the seeming uptick in iPhone love among the Chinese--the country is the world's largest

mobile market. The company opened two new Apple Stores there Saturday, according to an item in The Wall Street Journal:

the Joy City location, and another across town at a mall called The Village. That doubles the number of Apple's Chinese

retail outlets. The company plans to open 25 Apple Stores in China by the end of next year, the Journal said. Apple also

began selling its iPad in the country on September 17.

Still, there's a ways to go. When the iPhone 4 debuted in the United States earlier this year, it sold, according to

Apple, 1.7 million units in three days, the company's most successful product launch ever. And Apple was only the fifth

-largest smartphone seller in China as of the second quarter of this year, according to figures quoted by the Journal.

Nokia held the top spot.

On a side note, Apple may be able to duck iPhone 4 "Antennagate" issues in China--China Unicom said last month that the

device would be sold with a free case there.

[Hot News] Great wall of customers greets iPhone 4 in China
[Blu-ray Ripper reviews]Top 3 Blu-ray ripping software for you

Blu-ray has a number of advantages that other video formats do not have, such as high-definition, large-capacity, etc,

but the market and consumer can not accept it truly for its high price. Perhaps only some consumers that like to try new

things and rich people will buy it. Most people would choose HD-DVD or ordinary DVD. However, if we still want to see

Blu-ray movies, what can we do?

Trough surfing the Internet for some time, I??ve collected dozens of Blu-ray rippers developed for Windows and Mac

user. With the special intention of figuring out which one is the best of all, I??ve tested nearly each of them, and

finally pushed out this review to show my own opinion about the top 3 Blu-ray rippers summarized by myself. Hope it

will be of some help for you, and any comment and criticism are appreciated. Now, let??s have a look at the 3 BD

rippers one by one together.

No.1 Pavtube Blu-Ray Ripper

Download this Blu-ray Ripper

(direct link)

Pavtube Blu-Ray Ripper is the best one among all the splitters I have tested. It is an independent DVD and Blu-Ray

ripper with Windows 7 support, which is capable of decrypting unprotected and protected standard DVDs and Blu-ray

disks without the support of third party software.

With full Blu-ray disc support, it is capable of removing copyright protections of almost all BD discs, no matter BD+,

or AACS, even MKB v17 is supported as well. With advanced audio technology, it is capable of reading all audio tracks

of a BD disc, including Dolby TureHD Audio and DTS-HD Master Audio, which will never let you miss out your mother

tongue in the movie.

This Blu-Ray Ripper can rip and convert your Blu-ray movies and general DVDs into other popular HD or SD media formats,

like MKV, AVI, ASF, MPEG, MP4, WMV, MOV, FLV, SWF, RM, 3GP, AAC, AC3, MP3, OGG, WAV, WMA, M4A,

etc., so that you can playback them on your beloved media devices such as iPad, iPod, iPhone, Apple TV, Zune,

Blackberry, PSP, PS3, Creative Zen, Nexus One, PS3, WD TV, Xbox, etc., or import them to Sony Vegas,

Adobe Premiere to make your own movies, or do something else as you like. Moreover, it has a unique option called

??Copy??, through which you can directly backup your DVD .vob files and Blu-ray .m2ts files to the hard drive of your

PC or an external hard drive, and still keep the format of .vob and .m2ts without any quality loss.

Additionally, this Blu-ray ripper allows user adjusting video and audio parameters like bit rate, frame rate , sample

rate, aspect ratio, audio channels, etc., that means you are able to compress the file size of your Blu-ray discs

according to your own requirements.

Best of all, it is with the enhanced support for Blu-ray subtitle and audio track conversion. Once you selected on the

certain Blu-ray file, it will be able to read out all the subtitle info and audio info included in the BD file, and

list them out in a detailed way as below. In that way, you can select your needed subtitle and audio track to do

conversion at will.
It is really affordable, only $49 US dollars, the cheapest one of all the BD rippers I??ve ever seen.

Mac version ?C Download now

No.2: AnyDVD HD

AnyDVD HD comes with the same functionality as AnyDVD, but with additional features for full Blu-ray Disc and HD DVD

support, including decryption of Blu-ray (BD+ and AACS) and HD DVD (AACS) movies.

By comparison, it lacks some functions that Pavtube Blu-Ray Ripper has, namely, it does not support adjusting

customized settings like bit rate, resolution, etc, also changing subtitle and audio track are both unavailable.

Additionally, when it comes to multiple output formats and file size compression, it nearly can do nothing about them.

So to some extent, it is not as powerful as Pavtube, and that is why I put it in the second place.

Of course, the good thing is that AnyDVD HD is expert in removing all sorts of BD protections, which is the most

important feature that some other BD rippers lacked.

It costs 63 euros, equals to $92 US dollars, much expensive than Pavtube Blu-Ray Ripper.

The pity is that AnyDVD HD does not have a Mac version, so Mac users can not find an identical solution from it like

that of Pavtube Blu-Ray Ripper.

No.3: Top Blu-ray Ripper

It is capable of decrypting blu-ray disc s and general DVDs to all the popular video and audio formats, like FLV, SWF,

MOV, 3GP, 3GPP2, MKV, AVI, MPEG, MPEG4, WMV, RM, etc. Moreover, it supports previewing the movie before ripping,

clipping the movie freely, snapshot the images in the preview, automatically shutting down the computer, etc., and

supports batch ripping. All these functions are all had by Pavtube Blu-Ray Ripper.

It seems that Top Blu-ray Ripper has nearly the similar functions as Pavtube Blu-Ray Ripper. But why do I put it in the

third place? That is totally because of its inferior decrypting ability. Pavtube Blu-Ray Ripper and AnyDVD HD can

absolutely decrypt all the Blu-ray files you throw at it, while Top Blu-ray Ripper sometimes can only work on some of

them selectively. In another word, Top Blu-ray Ripper can not decrypt all Blu-ray protections, especially BD+, and MKBV

> 10.

What??s more, it only supports customizing video size, and audio channels, but not supporting adjusting bit rate, frame

rate, sample rate, and other audio and video parameters to allow user optimizing their conversion, and also,

changing/selecting subtitle and audio track language are unavailable as well.

The price of Top Blu-ray Ripper is $79.99 US dollars, much higher than that of Pavtube Blu-Ray Ripper, but cheaper than

that of AnyDVD HD.

[Hot News] Great wall of customers greets iPhone 4 in China
Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant vs Apple??s iPhone 4.

Can the Galaxy possibly conquer the iPhone 4? Not long after Apple Company released iPhone 4G, Samsung released the Samsung Galaxy S. But when the iPhone 4 hits retail shelves it will have to battle a gaggle of Android devices for consumer attention. If you are considering upgrading to the latest version of the iPhone or getting an Android device, take a look at how Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant vs. Apple??s iPhone 4 to see which phone is the better value.

Screen Display:
The first thing you notice about the Galaxy S Vibrant is how it lives up to its name. The Super AMOLED touch screen which measures 4?? and has a 480??800 resolution is truly stunning. It's massive and sharp and we'd say it's the best feature of the Samsung Galaxy S, and probably the best smart phone screen out there. The iPhone 4 uses an LED-backlit IPS-LCD screen at 3.5?? with an astounding 640??960 resolution which they refer to as a ??Retina Display?? which is absolutely stunning too. Both phones have excellent screens, but the Galaxy S??s larger and brighter display makes for a better viewing experience.
Winner: Samsung Galaxy S

Processor:
Samsung's Hummingbird Processor and Apple's iPhone 4's A4 processors are quite similar and were born from the same design. Both the Samsung Galaxy S and the iPhone 4 feature a 1GHz processor, but Galaxy S has a far superior graphics processing ability and will be much faster for gaming/graphics rendering. We've seen the capabilities of Apple's A4 processor on the iPad and it performs fantastically well. Samsung has a lot to compete with in this arena; although we're pretty sure Samsung will put up a strong fight and possibly prove victorious.
Winner: Samsung Galaxy S
Operating System:
The Samsung Galaxy S runs on Android 2.1, with Samsung's TouchWiz UI overlaid. It's a decent move from Android 1.6 offering Outlook support, more home screens and Flash Lite v3.1. Android also offers full multitasking unlike Apple which is always an advantage in our eyes, especially when you factor init speedy processor.

The iPhone 4 runs on the newly innovated iOS 4. Features include interchangeable home screen wallpapers, multitasking, and a software audio controller that works with any background audio app, not just the iPod app. Apple??s iOS undoubtedly lacks the flexible open ecosystem of Android, which allows software like game console emulators that Apple has banned. However, Apple's App Store will be hard to beat, despite Android catching up on the apps race pretty quickly.
Winner: iPhone 4

Battery Life
Apple has made enormous strides in battery life in iPhone 4 comparing with its previous models like iPhone 3G and 3GS. We were able to get two days out of the iPhone before needing to charge, and that was with fairly liberal use of Wi-Fi, 3G and calling. The Galaxy S on the other hand was never able to go more than 24 hours on a full charge, and even then, I wasn??t able to use it as hard as the iPhone. However, with IOS4 you cannot have a spare battery, and will not being able to replace the battery on the iPhone 4.
Winner: iPhone 4

Camera and Video Recording
Both devices have 5 megapixel cameras capable of capturing 720p high-def video at 30 frames per second. The Samsung Galaxy S features a 5-megapixel camera mounted on the back and a Front VGA Cam. There's no flash or an anti-shake filter, or video calling as there is on the iPhone 4. The Samsung Galaxy S also features a secondary camera on the front for making video calls. Samsung's cameras traditionally produce stunning photos, so we can expect lots from the Galaxy S.

Along with the 5-megapixel camera on the back with LED flash, the iPhone 4 packs in a VGA camera on the front to allow for self-potraits and FaceTime calls. The more powerful camera on the rear even supports HD video recording, at a resolution of 720p at 30 frames per second.
In video mode, you can trim the video clips you just shot and immediately upload them to YouTube via Wi-Fi. We see the flash as an advantage here because it means the iPhone 4 is prepared for any low-light situation.
Winner: iPhone 4

Movie Playback
With its?? built-in powerful multimedia player, iPhone 4 supports iTunes compatible audio and video formats. Audio formats supported: AAC (8 to 320 Kbps), Protected AAC (from iTunes Store), HE-AAC, MP3 (8 to 320 Kbps), MP3 VBR, Audible (formats 2, 3, 4, Audible Enhanced Audio, AAX, and AAX+), Apple Lossless, AIFF, and WAV. Video formats supported: H.264 video up to 720p, 30 frames per second, Main Profile level 3.1 with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats; MPEG-4 video, up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps per channel, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats; Motion JPEG (M-JPEG) up to 35 Mbps, 1280 by 720 pixels, 30 frames per second, audio in ulaw, PCM stereo audio in .avi file format.

As to Samsung Galaxy S, the smart phone features music player with SoundAlice, supporting audio file types including MP3, AAC, AAC+, eAAC+, OGG, WMV, AMR-NB, AMR-WB, WAV, MID, AC3, IMY, FLAC and XMF. The HD Video Player & Recorder in Samsung Galaxy S is able to play videos up to 1280 x 720 at 30fps. Supported video formats are 3GP, MP4, AVI, MKV, FLV encoded in DivX, XviD, MPEG4, H.263, H.264, WMV, and VC-1 codec.

Both iPhone 4 and Samsung Galaxy S supports limited video and audio formats, relatively the latter is compatible with a wider range of codec and formats, including flash and MKV formats. Luckily there is software to make up. With an ultimate video conversion tool named Pavtube Blu-Ray Video Converter Ultimate (its Mac version called iMedia Converter for Mac), you??ll be able to turn blu-ray disc, DVD, MKV, AVI, MOV, MP4, WMV, M4V, VOB, TS, MTS, M2TS, DivX, H.264, H.263, VC-1 videos into optimized video and audio for iPhone 4 and Samsung Galaxy S using its preset profiles. The converter covers all the compatible video formats with iPhone 4 and Samsung Galaxy S, and output videos ranging from 320*240, 640*480, 800*480, to 1280*720/30fps. Learn How to convert Blu-rays, DVDs, and different videos to Samsung Galaxy S phones, including Samsung Vibrant, Captivate, Epic 4G, and Fascinate.
Winner: Samsung Galaxy S

Conclusion
The Galaxy S Vibrant and the iPhone 4 are both incredibly sophisticated and powerful smart phones that are ideal companions for people who want complete control of their digital lives while on the go. Which one you choose will likely boil down to user??s preference.

If you are a Mac fan and already hooked into the Apple ecosystem because you own devices like the iPad or iPod Touch, the iPhone 4 will allow you to maximize your existing investments. If you are swayed by fashion and trends, get the iPhone 4. You??ll get tons of admiring glances and you??ll have a virtually unlimited choice when it comes to accessories for dressing up your phone. If you are an average user that need an iphone works out the box, iPhone 4 is your choice.

If you are frustrated by the inaccuracy of touch screen keyboards, Samsung??s embedded Swype application largely takes the pain out of this experience and 2 minutes of playing with it will make anyone feel speedy. If you prefer to exert more control over your technology instead of going with the default settings, the combination of Samsung??s TouchWiz 3.0 interface and the Android 2.1 OS gives you lots of choice in how you interact with the Galaxy S.
